It’s a lot of single use plastic to be recycling or disposing of after each cup. Instead of trying to find an environmentally friendly way to get rid of your K Cups you can use these methods to reuse K Cups!

Reuse K Cups as a Seed Starter

If you are thinking planting a garden this year you’ll need some seed starters! You can reuse K cups as seed starters. All you need to do is add soil, seeds, and a bit of water in an old K-Cup – that’s it.

You can even add a tiny bit of the coffee grounds to the soil to add more nutrients to the seed starter. Make sure to keep them moist and in the sunshine and pretty soon you’ll have an amazing garden of seedlings sprouting up right before your eyes. 

Herb Ice Cube in K Cups

We’re all busy, right? The last thing we want to be doing at night is trying to come up with delicious sauces for our meals. One great way to cut down on cooking time and increase the flavor of your favorite dishes is with some seasoning cubes.

Here’s an easy way to reuse K cups: Chop up garlic and fresh herbs and store it in K-Cups, and then freeze. This is great if you have a garden and have an abundance of herbs growing. You could even add a bit of oil to infuse it with the herbs. Melt some butter if you want to make your seasoning cubes based with butter instead of olive oil! 

K Cup Popsicle Molds

Anyone have kiddos who love to help in the kitchen? This idea for reusing K cups is great for little helpers.

You can also use K-Cups as popsicle molds. Just fill K-Cups with your favorite smoothie or juice and stick it in the freezer. Wait an hour or so (when the liquid has firmed up a bit) and add a popsicle stick and then let freeze overnight. What a great treat for the kids, this is simple enough the kids can help you make them.

If you’re anything like me, then perhaps you have some challenges in the organization, department, especially when it comes to things you don’t see like desk drawers.

K-Cups are a perfect way to store paper clips, rubber bands, staples and any other small office materials you may have. You can even use them to make the kitchen junk drawer a little more organized you can put your special crafty touch to really make them cute I have to say this is one of my favorite tips.

K Cups make a great vessel for painting while doing crafts. You can use a bit of tape to cover the hole and then you have the perfect size and shape for holding beads, glue, paint, glitter, and more. There’s no limit to the amount of creativity you can summon when you have a mess free cleanup option!

Don’t mess with putting paint on one of your dishes or newspaper, use individual pods to separate colors. This will help keep things clean and easy for the kids.

Tips For When You Reuse K Cups:

  • Peel away the lid made of foil, clear out the interior and give it a good rinse.
  • If you are using the K Cups for something involving liquid you can tape the hole on the bottom shut with some scotch or painters tape. That will make it so non of your paint, liquid, or juice leaks out!
  • When you are finished reusing your K Cups you can recycle them if they are marked and that will help cut down on waste that ends up in the landfill. Most of these options for reusing K Cups will allow you to use them time and time again!
