If you are wondering if this recipe actually works…the answer is yes, it absolutely does. There’s something so satisfying about taking a box cake mix and a can of soda and turning it into this delicious strawberry cake recipe.

Can I use any kind of soda for a 2 ingredient cake?

This recipe is made using a strawberry cake recipe with a can of Sprite. You can probably use just about any kind of soda that you have on hand. I have seen recipes that just use club soda though I’m not positive it would have the same flavor without the sugar, etc.

In terms of Sprite you could probably use a generic lemon lime soda, it wouldn’t need to be Sprite. For the flavors to turn out the same I would recommend sticking with the lemon-lime flavors!

You can use any type or brand of lemon lime soda. It should be a 12 ounce can. I know they make smaller cans now and bottles, etc. You’ll need 12 ounces for each box of strawberry cake mix!

If you are doubling the recipe, which is super easy, you can do that by just using 2 cans of soda and two boxes of cake mix!

Kitchen essentials for tasty recipes just like this:

When you head into the kitchen to make some of these great recipes you’ll want to have the best tools on hand.

I like half sheet baking pans that are quality (hello no noisy pops or sloshed cookie dough from twisting), I line my cookie sheets with silicone baking mats. These are great for all kinds of baking and not just cookies! My husband loves them for making biscuits, pizzas, and more!
