We all love our morning coffee, tea, or hot chocolate but what we don’t love is the impact K Cups can have on the environment. It’s a lot of single use plastic to be recycling or disposing of after each cup. Instead of trying to find an environmentally friendly way to get rid of your K Cups you can use these methods to reuse K Cups!
Reuse K Cups as a Seed Starter
If you are thinking planting a garden this year you’ll need some seed starters! You can reuse K cups as seed starters. All you need to do is add soil, seeds, and a bit of water in an old K-Cup – that’s it.
You can even add a tiny bit of the coffee grounds to the soil to add more nutrients to the seed starter. Make sure to keep them moist and in the sunshine and pretty soon you’ll have an amazing garden of seedlings sprouting up right before your eyes.
Herb Ice Cube in K Cups
We’re all busy, right? The last thing we want to be doing at night is trying to come up with delicious sauces for our meals. One great way to cut down on cooking time and increase the flavor of your favorite dishes is with some seasoning cubes.
Here’s an easy way to reuse K cups: Chop up garlic and fresh herbs and store it in K-Cups, and then freeze. This is great if you have a garden and have an abundance of herbs growing. You could even add a bit of oil to infuse it with the herbs. Melt some butter if you want to make your seasoning cubes based with butter instead of olive oil!
