Let’s be honest, no one wants to go through the hassle of frying doughnuts at home. It is such a messy and difficult process. That doesn’t mean you have to go without this holiday classic.

Homemade donuts can be made with biscuit dough. It’s a much easier way to start off with half the work already done for your dessert recipe.

Take a look at just how simple it is to make air fryer donuts, they’ll be a holiday staple in your house before you know it.

How many donuts does this recipe make?

This recipe for air fryer donuts makes 8 servings. You can easily turn that into double the amount or even triple if you are feeding a crowd.

I don’t usually make (or recommend making) more than you will eat in a day or so. These are best served fresh and of course they don’t typically last too long so leftovers are a problem.

If you want to make a large batch just be sure to grab extra ingredients and make sure you have enough time to make extra batches since the air fryer can only do so many at once.

Why use the air fryer for donuts?

Well, like with most air fryer recipes, this eliminates the need for a whole pot or vat of actual oil. It takes away a lot of the added fat and calories too since we’re not soaking the dough in oil while it’s cooking.

The air fryer is a much less messy way to get these donuts cooked up to the texture and consistency that we like without all the added oil mess.

Air fryers are also just way easier to clean so if the health benefits aren’t enough to encourage the switch just let the cleaning time do that for you!

I like the way these donuts come out in the air fryer. It gives them a great texture and it’s so quick which is an added bonus.

What type of frosting should I use for this recipe?

I just use canned frosting from the grocery store when I’m making my donuts. You can use whatever type or flavor you like. Depending on what the family requests I’ll use chocolate or vanilla or sometimes both.

You can use flavored frostings or even make your own glaze for the finished donuts if you’d like. I prefer to keep things simple which is why I use the store-bought frosting most of the time.

What else do I need to make donuts with biscuit dough?

Apart from the frosting and the refrigerated biscuits you will need cooking spray and some sprinkles or cereal to top it all off. This recipe is truly simple and straightforward.

You can skip the sprinkles if you want or you can make them themed to whatever holiday you like. The main ingredients here are the tubes of biscuits and the cooking spray.

If you don’t want to frost and decorate your donuts you can always coat them in cinnamon sugar for a delicious finished product as well.

Kitchen essentials for tasty recipes like these air fryer donuts with biscuits:

When you head into the kitchen to make some of these great recipes you’ll want to have the best tools on hand.

I like half sheet baking pans that are quality (hello no noisy pops or sloshed cookie dough from twisting), I line my cookie sheets with silicone baking mats. These are a must when doing cake mix recipes which can settle and become thin at lot easier than traditional cookie dough.

Of course mixing bowls, a mixerspatula, and some whisks should be on your list if you don’t have ones that you love. I also like to have a set of cooling racks so that my recipes can properly cool before they’re scarfed down by my family!

For this recipe we will be using an air fryer so you will need one of those as well!
