Peeps are one of those springtime treats that you either love or hate, right? I’m team Peeps. I stock up on them at Easter time and I parcel them out throughout the year as a special treat when I’m feeling down or when I just realllllly want a Peep.
They’re best (in this house) a little stale so perfectly aged Marshmallow Peeps are pretty much always hanging around in our cupboards. If you don’t like peeps, you might find that this recipe is still pretty good. Frozen Peeps in ice cream are a whole different texture and taste!
If you need an Easter brunch dessert or just a spring time themed sweet treat you can’t go wrong with marshmallow Peeps ice cream.
Is this a gluten free recipe?
This recipe is gluten free. Peeps are naturally gluten free, as are all the other ingredients that we will be using. Be sure to check your flavorings if you use anything funky to add an extra surprise to your ice cream base!
For those of you who need to keep this recipe dairy free, I haven’t tried making any swaps for the heavy cream. Unfortunately it’s kind of what makes this recipe creamy when frozen.
If you do make swaps that come out great, be sure to let us know in the comments so that others can try them as well!
If you have little ones in the house this is a great recipe for them to make! Most of the ingredients can get poured into the mixer and they can use a butter knife to chop up the Peeps so it really is kid friendly as well.

Kitchen essentials for tasty recipes:
When you head into the kitchen to make some of these great recipes you’ll want to have the best tools on hand.
I like half sheet baking pans that are quality (hello no noisy pops or sloshed cookie dough from twisting), I line my cookie sheets with silicone baking mats. These are great for all kinds of baking and not just cookies! My husband loves them for making biscuits, pizzas, and more!
Of course mixing bowls, a mixer, spatula, and some whisks should be on your list if you don’t have ones that you love. I also like to have a set of cooling racks so that my recipes can properly cool before they’re scarfed down by my family!
How to make no churn ice cream:
In a stand mixer with whisk attachment, pour in heavy whipping cream and whip on low speed moving the speed up every five minutes until it resembles whipped topping consistency.
Separate about one cup of heavy whipping cream into one bowl for yellow and another one cup in a second bowl for pink. Drop the food gel into each and stir well.
Add the sweetened condensed milk to the remaining whipped heavy cream. Fold in the sweetened condensed milk. Pour into a loaf pan or 8×8 baking pan.
Drop pink into different places and lightly swirl. Drop yellow into different places and lightly swirl.
Cut up the peeps bunnies and drop them all over into the mixture. I press some down and others I leave right on top.
Cover with plastic wrap or foil and freeze overnight. Once it has frozen overnight it is ready to scoop and serve. When you scoop the colors will be merry and fun!
Note: For flavoring you may use vanilla, mint, apple, your heart’s desire. For this I like to use vanilla.
