What do I need to make this crescent roll taco bake?
You will need just a handful of simple ingredients for this recipe. I like to grab the ingredients on my weekly shopping trip so that if I need a quick and easy dinner recipe I’ll have them on hand for my taco bake.
Here are the must-have ingredients: Crescent roll dough, lean ground beef, refried beans, zesty salsa, taco seasoning, and a delicious blend of shredded Mexican cheese. If you like a little spice, try this Spicy Taco Seasoning. Top it off with fresh chopped tomatoes and shredded lettuce for the ultimate taco experience!
While you have the crescents out consider making cold veggie pizza for tomorrow’s lunch or snack.
We don’t like tomatoes, can we leave them out?
You can alter the ingredients and toppings however you see fit! This recipe is going to come out fine either way! I will say, the veggies add some texture and crunch to this casserole.
If you are planning to leave some of the vegetables out because you don’t like them, substitute something you do like! This recipe would be great with some mild or sweet peppers instead of tomatoes or lettuce!
You could also add black olives, onions, or anything else you like on your tacos! Be careful adding vegetables before cooking as they can end up making your casserole watery!

How to make this baked taco recipe:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees and prepare a baking pan. Grab all your ingredients and start by unrolling the crescent dough onto the pan, bake for 10 minutes.
Brown ground beef with taco seasoning, add salsa and refried beans.
Top baked dough with ½ cup cheese, spread beef mixture, cover with more cheese, and bake for 20 minutes until melted.
Add onions, tomatoes, and lettuce, cut into 4 pieces, and serve. Delicious and easy to make!

Taco Bake
Making my taco bake recipe at home is quick and easy. This is the perfect weeknight dinner recipe for those times when you need something tasty that everyone will eat with no complaints!
Ingredients
- 1 container Crescent roll dough (8)
- 1 lb. Ground beef
- 1 can Refried Beans
- ¼ C Green onion, diced
- 1 C Salsa
- 2 Tbsp. Taco Seasoning
- 1 C Mexican cheese, shredded
- 1 C Tomatoes, fresh, diced
- 1 – 1.5 C Lettuce, shredded
- Sour cream for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Prep a baking pan by spraying with non-stick spray or using a silicone liner.
- Open crescent roll container. Unroll onto the baking pan. Close all the seams, making one large piece of dough. Bake for 10 minutes, or until it is cooked through and turning brown.
- Add ground beef and taco seasoning to a non-stick skillet. Brown until no longer pink.
- Add salsa and refried beans to ground beef. Stir until well incorporated.
- Remove baked dough from the oven and sprinkle with ½ cup shredded cheese.
- Spread the ground beef mixture onto the baked dough. Cover with remaining cheese. Bake for 20 minutes, or until cheese is melted.
- Add onions, tomatoes, and lettuce. Cut into 4 pieces and serve.

I used pillsbury pizza crust, brushed with a little avocado oil, poked a ton of holes in crust, baked for 8-10, ten added everything else including softened onions which added another flavor profile, then baked until cheeses were gooey melty, then added s.cream, guac, tomatoes and bl.olives.
I used 4 different cheeses too
Is it possible to add another layer of dough? How would you do it?
Do you want it more like a pie? If so, I’d add a premade pie crust on top. Seal it along the top of the casserole, make and X slit in the middle of the dough and then cook until brown. I wouldn’t add the fresh toppings until after the baking is done. It may get a little dry so you can also top it with salsa and sourcream. Thanks.
Instead of green onion can you use regular onion or minced??
You could try it! I’ve never done that but I’m sure it would be okay. I would definitely do minced if I was swapping them out!
Could you prepare this the day prior, making sure to allow all steps to cool before assembling?
I wouldn’t see why not if you need to do it that way it would be worth a shot!
