What is the toothpick method for brownies?
Picture this: you’ve got a batch of brownies baking in the oven, and you’re eager to know if they’re all set. That’s where the toothpick hero comes in! The toothpick method is like a brownie detective – you take a clean toothpick and stick it into the brownies.
If it comes out with just a few moist crumbs clinging to it, it means your brownies are cooked to gooey perfection inside. But if it comes out all wet and gooey, give them a bit more time in the oven.

From the pantry you’ll need milk, flour, sugar, cocoa powder, eggs, chocolate chips, butter, vanilla extract, and granulated sugar. You can also use a sugar substitute to lower the overall sugar content in the recipe.
For the best mixing tools, you can use a hand mixer or a stand mixer, just be sure not to over mix your batter! It’s possible and totally not necessary, these brownies will come out great with very little effort.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Using wax paper, line a baking sheet. Set aside.
In a bowl, add the butter and sugar. Beat until smooth using an electric mixer. Then add the eggs and all remaining ingredients and beat until smooth. Bake the cake for 40 minutes or until fully baked, cool for 10 minutes.
For the frosting, heat the butter, milk, sugar and salt until fully dissolved. Remove the saucepan from heat and add the chocolate chips. Stir until they are melted. Spread the frosting over the cake.
Don’t forget to let the frosting set properly before serving. Your homemade brownies made from scratch are ready!
