Learning to make brownies from scratch doesn’t have to be hard or tedious. Use this tried and true recipe to make your own homemade brownies. You’ll never go back to the boxed mix!

One of the best things about baking is the end result…and the second best thing is that it’s so much fun! This great homemade brownies recipe is even good for little ones to help whip up.
You can use a hand mixer or a stand mixer, just be sure not to overmix your batter! It’s possible and totally not necessary, these brownies will come out great with very little effort.

From the pantry you’ll need flour, sugar, cocoa powder, sea salt caramel sauce, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar.

The fresh ingredients we are using are butter, milk, and eggs. That’s the great thing about making these brownies from scratch, most of the items are on hand regularly so it’s quick and easy to whip up a batch of these sheet pan brownies.
How to make brownies from scratch:
Of course we will have a few more steps than with a boxed mix but don’t let that scare you, these brownies from scratch are not that much more difficult and the end result is much tastier!
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Using wax paper, line a baking sheet. Set aside.
In a bowl, add the melted butter and cocoa powder. Beat until smooth using an electric mixer.
Add the sugar and flour and mix well. Add eggs, vanilla and caramel sauce. Mix until combined. The batter will be thick.
Drizzle the top with caramel sauce.
Pour into the prepared pan, spreading evenly. Bake 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick will come out clean. As soon as you take the brownies out of the oven, make the icing.
To make the icing, combine all ingredients and beat until smooth.
Pour the icing over the brownies while they are still warm. The icing will melt and cover completely.
Dust with powdered sugar and allow the frosting to set.
