What kind of fried apples are these?

This is a deep fried apples recipe that is breaded in pancake batter. It’s a sweet treat that is perfect for those later summer and fall parties and picnics.

I love making a batch of these deep fried apples to serve up after dinner as dessert. They are simple, super tasty, and of course very easy to make as well.

What kind of apples should I use for this recipe?

I feel like everyone has their own favorite apple variety. I’m not a fan of red delicious but I know folks who would never dream of eating anything else.

For this recipe I used a Fuji apple. You can definitely use other varieties, the one suggestion I would make is that it should be a relatively firm apple.

I think Macintosh and even the red/yellow delicious varieties might get too soft when they’re battered and fried. Fuji, Granny Smith, Gala, and Pink Lady apples are all usually hits in our house and they are all pretty firm fleshed so any of those would work well too!

Kitchen essentials for tasty recipes like deep fried apples:

When you head into the kitchen to make some of these great recipes you’ll want to have the best tools on hand.

I like half sheet baking pans that are quality (hello no noisy pops or sloshed cookie dough from twisting), I line my cookie sheets with silicone baking mats. These are a must when doing a lot of cookie recipes or even baking things like meat which can get stuck on to pans!

Of course mixing bowls, a mixerspatula, and some whisks should be on your list if you don’t have ones that you love. I also like to have a set of cooling racks so that my recipes can properly cool before they’re scarfed down by my family!

For this particular recipe we will be deep frying you can use a pan and oil or you can use a deep fryer. Either way you’ll get the same result but one thing I do like to have on hand is a scoop like this and some metal tongs!

Do I have to serve these apples warm?

Like most fried foods and most things that have anything to do with pancakes…they’re best served warm. Obviously you don’t have to do anything but I would definitely recommend you serve these fried apples warm!

They get really nice and crispy and then cinnamon sugar adds an extra layer of sweetness. It’s worth it to serve them up right after you cook them…it’s a great excuse to put everything on hold for a few minutes os you can insult in a sweet treat too!
