Can I use different berries for this smoothie bowl?

This smoothie bowl uses frozen strawberries and other red berries. You can use things like cherries, pomegranates, raspberries, and more. You can also use other berries but you don’t have to keep them red if you aren’t worried about the color!

This recipe is really flexible and lots of fruits will taste great with strawberries. There’s nothing worse than realizing you don’t have something on this ingredient list. Feel free to mix things up if you need to, it will turn out okay for the most part even if you have to sub different fruit combinations!

Can I freeze this recipe?

You can definitely freeze this recipe if you want to make a sort of creamy frozen yogurt dessert. I would hold off on putting huge chunks of fruit into the recipe in that case. Just cut the whole fruits smaller before putting them into the mixture and freezing the whole mixture.

You will likely have to thaw this recipe a bit before serving because it will freeze a little harder than ice cream does. Overall this recipe is great to serve as is or frozen. Both ways are tasty treats that even kids will enjoy.

What do I need to make a smoothie bowl?

This recipe uses only four ingredients plus a few things for toppings if you like. You will need frozen strawberries, another red fruit of your choice, thick yogurt (Greek works great), and milk. I like to use strawberries and grated chocolate for garnish.

Other good garnish to consider are chia seeds, granola, sliced almonds, other nuts, fresh berries, and even chocolate or sprinkles for kids and a pop of color!

Keep in mind that you can use whatever kind of yogurt you want but Greek works great because it’s thicker. If you use regular yogurt you might consider freezing it first so you can have a thicker smoothie bowl.
