Who is the Grinch?

The Grinch is a character who was originally created by Dr. Seuss! He is the main character of the book How The Grinch Stole Christmas which was originally published in 1957. There have been many others and a few movies starring our favorite green friend since then!

The Grinch is typically depicted as a large green and hairy fellow who has a small dog as a sidekick. He lives in a cave far above the town of Whoville where the residents are quite fond of the Christmas holiday.

The Whoville residents make the Grinch upset with their celebrating and he tries to steal their holiday joy by taking away their decorations, gifts, etc. He learns an important lesson about how the spirit of Christmas is not in all the “stuff” it’s in their hearts.

The town finally reaches out to him and includes him in their celebrating and he gives back their Christmas items and joins in the celebrating. It’s a lovely message about inclusion, the spirit of the holidays, and loving each other even when we’re not at our best.

Why are all the treats green with red hearts?!

The Grinch is green and in the story his heart grows three sizes when he is learning about the joy of the holidays and being included in the town celebration.

These treats are all Grinch recipes which is why they are green and feature red hearts! It’s a great way to make themed desserts that everyone will love.

Kitchen essentials for tasty recipes for the holidays:

When you head into the kitchen to make some of these great recipes you’ll want to have the best tools on hand.

I like half sheet baking pans that are quality (hello no noisy pops or sloshed cookie dough from twisting), I line my cookie sheets with silicone baking mats. These are great for all kinds of baking and not just cookies! My husband loves them for making biscuits, pizzas, and more!

Of course mixing bowls, a mixerspatula, and some whisks should be on your list if you don’t have ones that you love. I also like to have a set of cooling racks so that my recipes can properly cool before they’re scarfed down by my family!
