Once you prepare the filling for these egg rolls it’s a very simple appetizer recipe after that. You can make these in pretty big batches which is nice if you have a crowd to feed.

Another reason these are so simple to make is because you can don’t have to worry about hot oil. I hate frying things traditionally because it’s such a pain and a mess not to mention getting those little splatters hurts!

Kitchen essentials for tasty appetizer recipes:

When you head into the kitchen to make some of these great recipes you’ll want to have the best tools on hand.

I like half sheet baking pans that are quality (hello no noisy pops or sloshed cookie dough from twisting), I line my cookie sheets with silicone baking mats. These are great for all kinds of baking and not just cookies! My husband loves them for making biscuits, pizzas, and more!

Of course mixing bowls, a mixerspatula, and some whisks should be on your list if you don’t have ones that you love. I also like to have a set of cooling racks so that my recipes can properly cool before they’re scarfed down by my family!

You can then add the soy sauce and season with salt and pepper to your liking. Once everything is fully cooked, take the wok off the stove and let it cook off on the counter.

Prepare your station. Have your wrappers and filling ready. Put down a small bowl of water and a plate to roll your egg rolls on.

starting the rolling process

Grab an individual wrapper sheet, place diagonally in front of you, and put about 2 tablespoons of filing on the wrapper (like the photo).

Then fold the corner closest to you over the filling, and the sides over, like an envelope. Then keep rolling until you have a small corner (triangle) left. Brush some water with your fingers on corner of the wrapper and roll further until the wrapper has sealed.

Place about 4-8 egg rolls in your air fryer (depending on the size of your air fryer), make sure they don’t touch each other and have a little room. Spray quickly with a cooking oil (I used avocado oil) and let them air fry for 6-8 minutes on 400 degrees Fahrenheit, or until golden brown. Make sure to turn them over halfway.
