Instant Pot Garlic Mashed Potatoes
These Instant Pot garlic mashed potatoes are so easy to make thanks to the electric pressure cooker. Making Instant Pot mashed potatoes could not be easier, it’s the best low maintenance way to make garlic mashed potatoes.
Experimenting with my pressure cooker outside of canning has found me discovering some other delicious ways to use it. It can be used to cook full meals like soups, stews, and ribs or even for yummy sides like these Garlic Cheese Mashed Potatoes.
The convenience of cooking and whipping them up in the same pot while I tended to other items on the stove was a game changer. Mashed potatoes are a must make side and the extra ingredients in this recipe make the flavors pop.

Ingredients Needed For Instant Pot Mashed Potatoes:
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 3 lbs. Russet or red potatoes
- ¼ cup butter
- ½ cup half and half
- ¼-½ cup grated parmesan cheese
- 2 tsp. diced garlic
- 1 tsp. Coarse sea salt
- 1 tsp. Ground black pepper
How To Make Garlic Cheese Mashed Potatoes:
- Wash potatoes well and peel if you like. I like to peel some skin off and leave some on for flavor, it is all about your taste preference.
- Bring water and chicken broth to a boil in your pressure cooker set to high, with the lid off.
- Add potatoes and secure lid, making sure that the release lever is closed.
- Set pressure cooker to high and cook for 25 minutes.
- Release pressure with the lever.
- Use hot pads to remove center pot and drain potatoes.
- Put potatoes back in pressure cooker along with half and half, butter, parmesan cheese, garlic, sea salt, and black pepper.
- Mash well with a hand masher until fairly smooth.
- Turn pressure cooker off but replace lid to keep them warm until ready to serve.
- Serve and enjoy!
