Recipes Using Thanksgiving Leftovers
It never fails. No matter how much we plan, ask for RSVP’s, and try…there are always leftovers from Thanksgiving. The good news is that Thanksgiving leftovers are very versatile. These recipes using Thanksgiving leftovers will have you excited to repurpose that turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and more!
What if I don’t want to eat my Thanksgiving leftovers?
If I know that I am going to be stuck with more Thanksgiving leftovers than I can use I try and send them home with anyone who attends. If someone else in the family or friends group can use the food and will enjoy it, why not send it home with them.
Keep some disposable Tupperware on hand or ask everyone to bring a dish with them to take home leftovers! I also have plastic bags on hand for holidays so I can send home whatever people will eat!
Another option is to give the food away to those less fortunate. Make up platters of leftovers for needy families, shelters, and more.
Can pets eat Thanksgiving leftovers?
There are surprisingly a lot of things that pets and especially dogs can eat during the holidays. Of course I’m not a veterinarian but after a bit of research online it seems like dogs can enjoy the following in moderation…they get a treat, you get to use up some leftovers without throwing them away…it’s a win win!
- Turkey with no skin
- Potatoes
- Sweet potatoes
- Peas and most other vegetables
Make sure to avoid garlic, onions, raisins, and chocolate! Also foods that are very high in salt and butter can give your pup an upset stomach so keep that in mind as you decide what to feed your furry friend this holiday season.
