You can easily double or even triple this recipe. When I’m feeding a crowd I like to make at least a double batch. Then I’m sure everyone will have some and it’s not much more work to make the extra lil smokies into an awesome and delicious appetizer.
- 1 pkg (20) Cocktail sausages
- ½ pkg Bacon, cut in half
- ¼ C Mayonnaise
- ¼ C Mustard (Dijon)
- ¼ – ½ C Maple Syrup
- Toothpicks or decorative short skewers
Here is how to make my lil smokies recipe:
My recipe for lil smokies is pretty easy, you can make them right before an event or you can prepare them ahead of time. Pop them into the oven to recrisp them or you can just pop them into a crockpot to have them warm and ready for your event!
- Preheat oven to 350
- Cut the long strips of bacon in half and lay on a cookie sheet. Bake until semi crisp
- Let cool slightly, and lay a sausage on one end and roll up into the piece of bacon. Secure with a skewer or toothpick.
- Put the piggies back into the oven for another 15 minutes (or until crisp).
- Combine mayonnaise, mustard and syrup all together. Taste for desired sweetness. Add more syrup if you feel it could be sweeter. (Syrups vary on the level of sweetness they contain).
- Serve and enjoy!
